Emma Hesse graduated from the Ontario College of Art (OCA) in 1970. After a successful career in graphic design and illustration, she moved from Toronto to a farm near Peterborough, Ontario, where she devotes her time to painting images that are both constant and have personal significance for her.

The Whispering Gallery is a solo piano album I released after moving away from home to study engineering at Queen's University. The painting on the cover is Bespoken by my mother, Emma Hesse, the jacket design by my father, Don Fernley. I am forever changed and changing.
